Every year we vow to go the gym, read more and to go to bed earlier – but this year, in addition to setting the usual personal goals (which we’ll no doubt break by mid-January), we’re turning our attention to work-based resolutions at Nobull.
A fresh year calls for a fresh start – think of it as an early spring clean if you will. Here are the work goals we’ll be kicking off with in 2024…
1) Start with a clear inbox
Take some time to declutter – delete unnecessary emails, spam, newsletters from bygones past, and start afresh with a clear filing system – think folders and colour-coding. It sounds nerdy, but it’ll save you hours in the long run. While you’re at it, go through any flagged emails you may have forgotten about – it’s a great way to remind yourself who you’ve met/liaised with and, who knows, there might be some potential leads or opportunities you can follow-up.
2) Review and reflect
While campaign debriefs are the norm when we work with clients, it can sometimes be helpful to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Break down team barriers and take a look at the company as a whole. What worked generally and what didn’t? Were there transferrable ideas that worked for one team that could be rolled out across another? And what would you veto, given the chance? All learnings are good learnings, retrospectively at least.
3) Strategise
Failing to plan is planning to fail and without clear direction and goal setting, you’re already setting out on the wrong foot. Agreeing a plan at the start of the year is only the first step – frequency and consistency is what really matters. Make sure you’re consistent with regular planning meetings and goal tracking, no matter how big the goal.
4) Swat up
We’re all about staying on top of the trends and keeping up to date with industry reporting but when time gets scarce, it’s all too easy to let this slip. Get organised and start the year how you mean to go on. Now’s a good time to get that trade mag subscription you’ve been meaning to sign up for, to book ahead on industry webinars, and to research relevant events and award deadlines so you can block them out in your calendar.
5) Brand audits
Give your brand an audit to make sure you’re best placed to make the most of the year ahead. Check your Google Business profile is up to date, review your social media profiles and check your web analytics. These touchpoints are the windows to you brand, so make sure they’re doing it justice and making sure they’re drawing people in rather than sending them away.
